A flat’s postal address, a visitor car park and the building’s loading entrance can be three different places. Check the practical route with the occupier or building manager before choosing your collection window.
Check the vehicle approach, gate or barrier, height limit and where unloading is allowed. Find out whether a private loading area must be booked and who authorises it.
Record: the correct approach and entrance in Driver notes. A sat-nav destination alone may stop at the wrong side of the building.
Walk the carrying route: entrance steps, corridors, doors and lift. Measure your largest items against the lift opening and cabin; ask whether a service lift or moving slot is required.
Enter in the quote: the actual floor or lift. If an item cannot use the lift, establish its carrying route before relying on the lift option.
For a Birmingham collection, choose an available collection window that fits the building’s arrangement. For delivery into Birmingham, allow for loading and travel from the pickup address.
If a delivery slot is inflexible: confirm that specific requirement before paying. Booking a lift or adding Driver notes does not secure a delivery appointment.
When the move depends on street access
A building’s agreement to move furniture does not reserve a public bay or establish the vehicle’s road permissions.
Use Birmingham City Council’s suspension and dispensation process for the actual street. The council asks for at least 48 hours’ notice to consider requests; approval is not automatic.
Check the appropriate process, current charges and required vehicle details before relying on that space. An online moving quote does not reserve a council bay.
Birmingham parking arrangements (opens in a new tab)The zone covers the area inside the A4540 Middleway; the Middleway itself is excluded. A charge depends on the vehicle’s emissions status, so being a van does not by itself mean a charge applies.
The vehicle check needs the actual registration. It is separate from permission to use a loading bay or enter a private building.

The public-bay application may be irrelevant to your move, but street signs and any vehicle-zone requirements still apply on the approach.
